The Bread Commons
The Bread Commons is a series of workshops aimed at exploring the different varieties and cultural significance of bread. Our first workshop series, The Ethiopian Edition, is presented in partnership with All Are Welcome Bakery, and focuses on bread as it relates to Ethiopian culture. Hosted by Ethiopian cook, Kemalut and her niece, Asanti, participants are able to learn how to make, bake, and of course eat three of Ethiopia’s most popular breads!
Cake and Kindness
This was an epic bake sale! Cake and Kindness took place on the final weekend of Refugee Week, 2018, and was supported by some of Melbourne’s most esteemed (and generous) bakers. The event was co-hosted by Park Street Dining, who welcomed us in to their courtyard which we filled with an abundance of baked goods, handmade ceramics, and posies of flowers. The day was a huge success with supporters forming a long line on the bike path before we’d even labelled the cakes! All funds raised on the day went towards our training program for women from refugee backgrounds.
